Orkut Married to his Boyfriend !!

Orkut Buyukkokten, creator of Orkut is married to his boyfriend Derek Holbrook recently. It was expected as the California Supreme Court has made gay marriages legal recently. The ceremony was witnessed by Marissa Mayer, the Vice President of Search Product and User Experience at Google.

In the above picture, form left to right you can see Derek, Marissa and Orkut himself. (Photo by Drew Altizer via SFluxe)

When i tried to figure out who is Derek Holbrook, first Google result taken me to Derek’s facebook profile. I guess now two are married, Derek may consider deleting facebook profile in order to strengthen bond with Orkut. ;-)

The last of my life !!!!

I visited the house of death, the day before I died,

I saw foot prints left by you all, gone before,

They were wet of tears, somebody poured in waste.

But the house was bright and happy filled, I found.

Death was not there, smiled- when he came, hold my hands,

Cool it was, freezing my blood, streaked and stuffed it ,

Blocking my heart, closing my nasals, taking my breath.

I felt he placing a heavy feet on me ,and dragging me down.

My eyes were coming out, dried up my throat, falling into a darkness..

I came to know my death happening, slowly, waving, shivering,

My hands fallen, legs went feathery, all went nill, but still...

I was fearless, happy and hold his hands tight and close.

I heard a cry to leave that hand, but I couldn’t, I loved it-

The comfort, the hands gave me in no time, I didn’t leave it,

The cry went whistling ,faded off, and I was not knowing the truth,

It was u cried for me, but, but i can’t escape from him, as u know .

In very small time a reached above the clouds, then I got a backward look,

Miles and miles down, saw u crying near me, calling me loudly and-

Asking a look, a kiss and telling me u will return me my golden pen.

Then I felt a guilty, I urged to come back, I heard same cry, it was yours.

I felt I’m still in his house, where was it above the clouds, don’t know-

Now light and darkness mixed me with cool and freezing breeze,

The fragrance of death was filled in that breeze, I was awake ,

Hearing u and all crying, and all sounds were passing me fast.

I then realised I never saw him near me, never I got any hands near me

I was feeling sad, why I wished, and went to that house,

But was there such a house of death- I wondered, smiling,

And I woke up, to a new dawn.. there u all were not present……..

25 tags of my life :)

1) I have lived more than half of my life .

2) Deciding to pursue MBA was not the wisest move in my life. I wish I had the conviction in me to pursue a career in sports, Scientist or singer(Ace Ventura style).

3) I detest fame of all kinds, but secretly dream of singing with sonu nigam .

4) My social skills are not terrible, just plainly weird. Sometimes, I dont know why I've behaved in a certain way, spoken certain things in public and made certain acquaintances.

5) I like football more than cricket. In fact, I am fanatical to the point that the craze ,Well all indians love cricket but ..

6) By posting the same comment five consecutive times on one of my blog posts (an example here), I do not understand your point better than I did after reading it just the once.

7) I am a vegetarian.

8) Sometimes, I like playing the uber-cool fool when I am surrounded by my friends I wish to leave an impression upon. Sometimes.

9) I dont enjoy being in the company of cynics and sycophants. Other types will do, but these two categories of people make me feel like I need blood donors.

10) Thank God, I've reached Number 10 on this list.

11) I think Bollywood plays a hand in keeping India united. On a personal level, Bollywood is not for me (Reasons here). I am your occasionally-found-at-multiplexes kind of girl.

12) I was NOT a bully in school. I did NOT rag anyone in college. As far as I can remember.

13) I enjoy dancing, of the type in a discotheque with coloured lights and 'rocking' music. I enjoy Garbaa and Dandiya Raas, the folks dances of any state.

14) During my school days, a history teacher who educated me on the Indian freedom struggle, the World Wars and Mahatma Gandhi was one of my role models. I scored 55 in Social Sciences in 10th. I dont know why (Dont smirk! One of the toppers in my school scored 49 in Social Sciences and 90s in all other subjects). I still believe this was a CBSE-sponsored conspiracy.

15) I hate obsessive love. Simple love is fine. But some lovey-doveys are overtly obsessed with their opposites. I feel life loses pragmatism with this kind of 'love'.

16) The Fair-N-Handsome effect doesn't fancy me one bit.

17) I think religion has been misunderstood by people to an extent I had never imagined. And it's getting worse. And the only tonic is tolerance.

18) I think Abhishek bacchan is dashing . And hot. I think shahrukh khan is very hot. But not sexy. In an ideal world, I'd want to marry abhishek bacchan and have an extra-marital affair with shahrukh. ;-)

19) When in my teens, orkut.com was one of my favourite internet haunts. It doesn't take a genius to interpret what the site was about, from the name of the site.

20) Sachin tendulkar is my all-time favourite cricketer.

21) I try not to lie. But there are certain situations in life where you just cant seem to 'go ahead' if you choose to not lie. I also try not to lie in those situations. But what eventually makes me lie is that greatest fear of 'being stuck' in compromising situations.

22) Yes, I realize that I've wickedly used this tag to promote some of my previous blog posts.

23) I am usually very calm.

24) Two things in the world elevate me to instant bliss - 1) making people laugh 2) scoring a goal in a life

25) Thank God, this tag is over. I usually dont enjoy tags. Anybody in the whole wide world can take up this tag from here. Dont pile the pressure on me by expecting me to come up with a list. :-)

Stay safe.

Swine flue -First pandemic

All are worried ,the people coming from usa or going usa or somewhere outside world are worried abt swine flue.
Swine flu is still with us although the media hype has died down. There have been
numerous cases and many deaths, but nothing on the scale of the millions
predicted early on. Could this first wave strain now be evolving into a more
virulent form that will affect the northern hemisphere more severely after the
summer is over?
For the last ten years or so bird flu and Asia have
been the focus of much research and concern. However, the wave of swine flu
(H1N1) infections that began in March-April 2009 in Mexico highlight the fact
that a potentially lethal strain of virus can emerge from other species and not
necessarily in Asia.

Currently, not all the deaths attributed to swine flu have been definitively
associated with type A H1N1 influenza, the actual mortality rate could be as low
as 1% or as high as 6.5% depending on how you count.
Should we be worried?
No. We should be cautious, but not worried. While some observers are suggesting
serious caution others are advising that there is no reason for real concern yet.
We are not quite at the danger levels of even the worldwide SARS epidemic and
certainly not close to the Spanish flu pandemic that ravaged the world in 1918-9.
Is the WHO scaremongering too?

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Mexican/US swine flu
outbreak as a “public health emergency of international concern”. It moved us to
a Phase IV alert and then a Phase V alert and told us that the disease could no
longer be contained. However, as things are panning out it would seem that this
latest emergent virus is not even as bad as the common seasonal flu that kills
tens of thousands of people every year. But, there a new strain could evolve in
the coming weeks and months.

What is swine flu?
Swine flu is a type A influenza virus. It’s a subtype of H1N1 and is something of
a misnomer.
Why is this new H1N1 virus called swine flu?
In the original testing many of the viral genes were shown to be similar to
influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs in North America. But further
studies have shown that this new virus is very different. It also has two genes
from flu viruses present in European and Asian pigs as well as genes from bird
flu and human flu strains. It is referred to as a “quadruple reassortant” virus.
What is unusual about the present strain?
The new strain is a hybrid of swine, human and avian flu viruses and the US
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says it might spread from human
to human but the level of virulence is not yet clear. UPDATE: There have been
numerous deaths, but so far the vast majority of people infected have shown only
mild symptoms and after treatment have recovered.

What are the symptoms?
Symptoms are similar to regular human flu: fever and chills, a cough, sore
throat, aching limbs, headaches, and general malaise. However, there are reports
of swine flu also causing diarrhoea and vomiting. Pneumonia and respiratory
failure can occur leading to death as also happens in regular human flu.
Are there warning signs in children?
Children having trouble breathing, being averse to drinking, lethargy not waking
up or not interacting, being so irritable that the child does not want to beheld,
flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough, fever with
a rash.
Are there any drugs to treat swine flu?
Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza) are the possible pharmaceutical
frontline defences against the virus and are proving effective in treating
patients diagnosed early enough. There is as yet no vaccine, although researchers
are working hard to develop one. It takes several months to create a flu vaccine
and any such vaccine will be effective against only the specific strain for which
it was created. By the time we have a vaccine the virus may have either died out
or evolved into a different strain resistant to the vaccine.

Has the disease spread to the USA/india ?
Cases in California, Texas, and Kansas, have been confirmed and tests are being
carried out on students at a school in New York. Cases have been seen in New
Zealand, Spain, Scotland, and elsewhere; those infected have been recovering
well. And same as in india well very less cases are found here.

How can we prevent the spread of swine flu?

People at risk should cover their mouth when they cough. They should regularly
wash their hands with an alcohol-based cleaner and and avoid close contact with
the sick. Patients with the disease should stay at home. There is no need to
avoid eating pork.
Will there be a global flu epidemic?
“We do not know whether this swine flu virus or some other influenza virus will
lead to the next pandemic,” says, Richard Besser, acting director of the CDC,
“However, scientists around the world continue to monitor the virus and take its
threat seriously.” UPDATE: the WHO raised its alert level from Phase IV to V,
with recent infection rates in Japan, the WHO has been hinting that they will
need to upgrade to pandemic Phase VI.
Will there be a second wave?
One of two outcomes are being forecast, first that this rather poorly virulent
strain will continue spreading slowly but ultimately die out, thanks to a
combination of low virulence and monitoring and isolation of outbreaks, or
secondly it will mutate into something much more virulent and bring with it a
fast-spreading and more lethal wave of influenza. Thankfully, in the Northern
hemisphere, we are heading into summer and influenza viruses do not spread as
efficiently in the summer as they do in the winter.
What’s next?
It is impossible to predict what virus will emerge from which host, there are
countless different types of pathogen lying dormant in the countless different
mammals across the globe. No one predicted SARS, AIDS, Ebola, West Nile virus, or
swine flu. This time, health agencies have responded well and although the WHO is
saying it is now impossible to “contain” swine flu, it seems that the first wave
is not revealing itself to be quite as lethal as was at first feared. However,
that does not detract from the possibility of a second wave of H1N1 emerging.
Is this a wake-up call?
At the very least this swine flu outbreak should wake us all up to either getting
the dust off our (bird flu) pandemic plans (as the response is the same) or
getting started with putting them together. This includes both businesses and
individuals. If the outbreak dies out quickly and this turns out not to be the
next global pandemic then we can be sure another strain will try to be at some
point in the future. Pandemic preparedness for businesses should now be at the
forefront of every business manager’s mind.
What is cyberchondria?
Cyberchondria is an anxiety disorder related to hyperchondria and brought on by
reading too many tweets with the #swineflu tag, listening to conspiracy
theorists, and viewing online news stories about diseases that scare the sheesh
kebab out of you. But, just because you’re paranoid does not mean the disease
isn’t out to get you.

Confused ?? No idea

How many times have you run out of ideas? How many times have your mind gone blank? Forget about out of the box thinking, you could not even suggest an ordinary idea. It happens with each one of us. Accept it or neglect it, choice is yours. And who gives this choice to you? Your tired, mind!

After all, mind also needs a change, a change from the routine life. Just sleeping with a thought that an extraordinary idea will strike in your dream and you will wake up like that you are in heaven and you have notinmg to do ; who day dreamt about snake and hoorible structure or lizrad( i hate the most). That’s not going to happen. Better find easy and reliable method.
Innovative ideas, creative skills and design skills depend on mind. Meditation is the key. Because in meditation you are not suppressing the thoughts or ideas rather your mind is in relaxation state. It is not running behind finding solutions. The peace, power and purity that your mind will experience after meditation, will be immeasurable.

Also mind it, doing meditation is not easy. In past, I tried and failed. Because, the mind keeps wandering and doesn’t stay focused for sufficiently long duration. A new thought comes and the mind again become active and starts working. Practicing it in a right manner can help. (One can try Sudarshan Kriya by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar). It will not only give you peace but also help you in concentration and focus.Today i just read an mail about this meditation.

Our day to day life stress and working style (all the time glued to computer screen) makes our mind linear and stressful, and it needs rather it “demands” NOTHING. Yeah, no more wandering mind or forever search for peace. It just wants to DO “NOT MIND” state.

Try this or join Art of Living beginner’s course. I am sure, you will love it. This article, I wrote specially because i am a lazy person and i am going through this problems so i have started doing meditation.

So celebrate the silence of your mind by doing meditation. Creativity will flow after this golden silence ..
